Somewhat surprisingly, Franklin County isn’t on this recent Forbes list of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S. Here are the top five:
1. Flagler County, Fla.
2. Kendall County, Ill.
3. Rockwall County, Texas
4. Pinal County, Ariz.
5. Sumter County, Fla.
Here’s why I think Franklin County isn’t on the list: The list is using population estimates to chart growth between 2000 and 2008/2009. Pasco’s growth has continued well into 2009/2010, so Franklin County may not show up on a list like this until there are more current numbers.
