Astronaut Story Musgrave will have a busy day on October 7th when he pays a visit to the CBC campus in Pasco. His day here will begin with an appearance at 9:00 a.m. for local middle school and high school students at Gjerde Center. At 11:30 a.m., he’ll speak to CBC students in the HUB. Then, at 6:00 p.m., he’ll speak during a public dinner at the Gjerde Center.
During his time as an astronaut, Musgrave went on six spaceflights — including one stint as the lead spacewalker on the Hubble Telescope repair mission. He was also the first astronaut to perform a shuttle spacewalk.
In its announcement, CBC explains the three reasons why it’s bringing Musgrave to campus:
The College wants to promote its Astronomy program, increase awareness of math and science as a career, and generate financial support to build a planetarium on campus.
